Outreach
At Christ Community Church Penhook, we believe in the power of outreach and community connection. Our programs are designed to serve those in need, spread love throughout our community, and offer connections both within the church and outside it. We invite you to join us in making a difference!

Comfort Quilters
We are a group of individuals who gather on the second Tuesday of September, October, November, January, February, and March from 1-3pm at Dill’s Marina, 629 Lakeside Road in Penhook, VA to fellowship while putting together and tying charity quilts. No prior quilting experience is needed.
In the past, quilts have been distributed to church family and friends who are recovering from illness or grieving a loss and to community groups such as Cool Branch Rescue, The Blessings Box, LCM Mobile Food Pantry, Franklin Co. Resource Center, and Rocky Mount Social Services.

Caring Crafters
We strive to add a little comfort and happiness to those within our community by doing the following:
-
Making gifts for NICU babies in Roanoke
-
Visiting the VA residents in Salem
-
Visiting and giving birthday gifts to all residents at the Franklin Health and Rehab Center
-
Providing ice pack covers for the nurses to use at Rocky Mount Elem and Glade Hill Elem schools
-
Using scraps from our sewing to make dog beds for the animal shelter and collecting supplies for the facility
-
Supporting the Stepping Stones Facility by providing cooking aprons and making warm hats and scarves
Our group meets at Emogene and Glenn Weller's home twice a month from 9–12, only 2 miles from the church. There are no skills required because we have a job for everyone according to your comfort zone. Contact Emogene for more info (610) 413-8299

Feeding Our Children
-
9 million children in the United States are food insecure
-
Christ Community Church helps to provide weekend nutrition for the following schools in our community:
-
Glade Hill Elementary - 34 children
-
Ben Franklin Middle School - 50 children
-

Assuring a Holiday Meal
-
Families with children attending Glade Hill and Rocky Mount Elementary Schools who cannot enjoy a holiday meal due to their limited food budget receive a fully stocked box of food to prepare a traditional meal and assist with meals during the school holidays.

Helping Children Maintain Dignity and Comfort
-
For the third year, Franklin County Schools asked if CCC could provide children in need with new shoes. We purchased 350 pairs of shoes, averaging 25 pairs per school. The shoes help the children learn, thrive, and play each day.
-
CCC provides funds to Lake Christian Ministries and STEP to purchase 250 coats annually.
Mobile Food Pantry
Food insecurity is felt in every community. Moreover, people in southern rural communities are likely to lack access to enough food due to poverty, unemployment, and the cost of living.

Christ Community Church serves our community as a Mobile Food Pantry site on the 2nd Thursday of every month in partnership with Lake Christian Ministries.
If you would like to donate items for the approximately 25 families that we serve, you are invited to bring canned and non-perishable food items as well as gently-used clothing and household items to the church on the 2nd Thursday of every month between 8:30 and 9:00 am.
